6-溴异香草醛广泛用作药品、食品、饮料和糖果的调味剂,赋予产品天然香草特有的味道和气味。它还用于制作香水、作为分析试剂,并在合成某些药物(特别是甲基多巴)时用作中间体。
合成方法在室温下将1-溴-4-叔丁基二甲基硅氧基-3-甲氧基-6-(2-甲氧基亚乙基)-苯(AP-15,200 mg,0.54 mmol),置于20 mL四氢呋喃和90%甲酸水溶液(4:1)中剧烈搅拌24小时后,加入20 mL水。蒸馏去溶剂后,用20 mL乙酸乙酯萃取残留物三次。合并的有机相用约20 mL饱和碳酸氢钠水溶液洗涤直至中性,并再次用20 mL乙酸乙酯振荡洗涤。将合并的有机相经硫酸钠干燥、过滤并蒸发,通过后续柱层析(15 g硅胶,洗脱液:石油醚:乙酸乙酯=2:1),最终得到20 mg无色L1晶体和40 mg 6-溴异香草醛(理论值的32%)AP-28无色晶体。其熔点为106-108℃。
