Triterpenes, lichexanthone and an acetylenic acid from Minquartia guianensis

Lichexanthone, 17-hydroxy,9,11,13,15-octadecatetraynoic acid and fatty acid esters (mixture) of erythrodiol (12-oleanene-3,28-diol, 3-beta-form), and betulin (20-(29)-lupen-3,28-diol) were isolated. The structure of the new triterpene, 13,28-epoxy-3-acetoxy-11-oleanene, 3 beta,13 beta form, was determined by X-ray diffraction. The triterpenes occur mainly as C-3-O-palmitates.

Abstract Besides α-spinasterol, β- d -glucoside of β-sitosterol, acetates of α- and β-amyrins and hithertofore unreported 3β-palmitoxy-olea-12en-28-ol isolated from both the bark and the fruit-pulp of Madhuca butyracea, two other esters—the oleanolic acid palmitate and betulinic acid palmitate—have been isolated from the fruit-pulp and the bark respectively. Friedelin is also present in the bark. Chemical
