manganese(III) chloride in acetonitrile with trimethylchlorosilane and trimethylsilyl(tert-butyl)amide produces the green, thermally stable, manganese(VII) compound, MnCl(NBut)3, which has a tetrahedral structure (X-ray).
Compounds of Formula I are antagonists of VLA-4 and/or &agr;4&bgr;7, and as such are useful in the inhibition or prevention of cell adhesion and cell-adhesion mediated pathologies. These compounds may be formulated into pharmaceutical compositions and are suitable for use in the treatment of asthma, allergies, inflammation, multiple sclerosis, and other inflammatory and autoimmune disorders.

The invention provides certain 5 and/or 8 substituted benzopyran, pyranopyridine or tetrahydroquinaline compounds having C.sub.4 -amide substituent and processes for making them. The compounds described are useful in treating and/or preventing certain disorders.
