羟基酪醇是橄榄中的一种活性成分,在人体内发挥着高活性抗氧化剂的作用。作为一种生物活性分子,它存在于很多植物中,但其活性尤为强大。羟基酪醇被视为最强大的抗氧化剂之一,市场需求日益增长。它的氧自由基吸收能力约为4,500,000μmolTE/100 g:是绿茶的10倍,以及CoQ10和栎精的2倍多。
西安交通大学生科院线粒体生物医学研究所所长刘健康教授与瑞士帝斯曼营养产品公司合作,从分子生物学的角度系统研究了橄榄油中一种多酚提取物——羟基酪醇的作用。研究表明,该物质通过促进线粒体合成的方式,有效保护香烟有毒成分丙烯醛造成的视网膜色素上皮细胞的氧化损伤和线粒体功能失调。其主要机制是羟基酪醇可诱导细胞内具有解毒作用的二相酶体系。这些结果提示,羟基酪醇可能对吸烟所致的视网膜色素上皮细胞退行性变(如视网膜黄斑病)具有保护作用。该成果也支持了富含橄榄油的膳食将有利于糖尿病、肥胖症等与线粒体功能失调相关的疾病治疗。
羟基酪醇具有消炎作用,扩张血管和抗菌作用,能够防止动脉粥样硬化,并能降低某些癌症(如乳腺、前列腺、子宫内膜、消化道)的发病率。由于其强大的抗氧化活性和减少癌症发病率的作用,因此在医疗领域具有巨大的应用前景。
应用羟基酪醇可应用于心血管药物,对动脉硬化、高血压、心脏病、脑溢血等疾病的预防与治疗有显著效果。它还可用作安全高效的抗氧化剂,广泛应用于美容产品保健品中,能有效增强皮肤弹性和润泽,具除皱抗衰老之功效。
此外,羟基酪醇对骨骼系统有益:有助于人体对矿物质的吸收,无需补钙即可自然吸收,保持骨密度并减少骨骼疏松。同时提高内分泌系统功能,促进新陈代谢,加速伤口愈合,并消除体内自由基,恢复人体脏腑器官的健康状态,防止脑衰,延缓衰老,保持青春活力。
生物活性羟基酪醇(DOPET)是从橄榄树及其叶子中提取的一种酚类化合物。它具有抗氧化、抗动脉粥样硬化、抗血栓、抗菌、抗炎和抗肿瘤的作用。

化学性质羟基酪醇可溶于甲醇和DMSO等溶剂,而不溶于石油醚、乙醚、氯仿。它来源于木犀科植物橄榄(Olea europaea)的叶子。
