    Several U(IV) compounds with fluorinated and bulky β-diketones have been synthesized by a novel route. The compounds have been characterized by elemental and mass spectroscopic analyses, IR and electronic spectroscopy and X-ray powder diffraction patterns. The electronic and steric effects of the β-diketone substituents on the properties of the compounds are discussed.
