Cucurbit[6]uril as a potential catalyst for the acidic decomposition of azidoaminoalkanes

Five azidoalkyl-1-amines and p-azidoaniline have been synthesized and complexed with cucurbit[6]uril in acidic solutions. Isothermal titration calorimetry has been employed to determine the association constant K and the enthalpy of complex formation Delta H of the azidoalkyl- and azidoarylamines. 4-Azidobutyl-1-amine forms by far the most stable complex. Cucurbit[6]uril significantly catalyzes the decomposition of the azidoalkyl- and azidoarylamines studied. (C) 2012 Elsevier Ltd. All rights reserved.

The present invention relates to a X-ray fluorescence molecular probe of formula I or a salt thereof, wherein X, Het 1, R1, Y1, Y2, L and R2 are as defined in the claims. The invention also relates to the use of the probes of the invention for X-ray fluorescence imaging, including in the context of multimodal imaging. The probes of the invention are useful in biological applications of X-ray fluorescence imaging, especially for imaging intracellular organelles and to label biomolecules. The probes of the invention may be functionalized or functionalizable.

A visualization construct comprising: (i) an optionally derivatized glycopeptide antibiotic; (ii) a visualization component; and (iii) a first linker connecting (i) and (ii) is provided. The visualization component may be a fluorescent component, a quantum dot, an MRI visualization component, a PET or SPECT visualization component, an MPI visualization component, or a radiographic visualization component. The glycopeptide antibiotic may be vancomycin, teicoplanin, oritavancin; telavancin, chloroeremomycin, or balhimycin. The first linker may comprises a polyethylene glycol (PEG) moiety, or a linear carbon chain of greater than four carbons.
