Cross aldol reaction in task-specific ionic liquids was developed. Ionic liquid-phase bound aldehyde reacted with various ketones (acetone, cyclopentanone, and butan-2-one) with L-proline as catalyst to afford various ionic liquid-phase supported aldols in yields ranging from 81 to 99%. Detachment of the aldol in MeOH was realized by transesterification using 15% of MeONa. The structure of intermediates in each step was verified by spectroscopic analysis.

A process is described in which an unsaturated fat is reacted in a homometathesis reaction in the presence of at least one non-aqueous ionic liquid to produce both an olefinic fraction and a composition of monoalcohol diesters or diacids.
Particular application to a mixture of esters of an oleic sunflower seed oil or an oleic rapeseed oil, the process producing both an olefinic fraction and a composition of monoalcohol diesters or diacids wherein, in general, more than half of its chains is constituted by unsaturated C

chains.
We observed pressure effects on the rate of thermal fading of colored chromene 1 photochemically generated from 2 in ionic liquids. The reaction rates were retarded with increasing pressure in [C4-mim][CS], [bzl-mim][Tf2N], and [mnp-mim][Tf2N], whereas the reaction rate increased with pressures in [C4-mim][Tf2N]. These pressure-induced retardations, so-called dynamic solvent effects, result from the slow thermal fluctuations of solvents.

Fluorophilic ionic liquids (ILs) showing enhanced compatibility with poly(tetrafluoroethylene) (PTFE) have been newly synthesised. The as-designed ILs contributed both to the dissolution of PTFE oligomers and to the preparation of composites with PTFE with no fear of bleed-out of the ILs.
