Dinuclear (bis-β-diketonato)Ni(II) and Cu(II) coordination complexes with different 3D supramolecular structures incorporating 1D columns

Dinuclear (bis-beta-diketonato)Ni(II) and Cu(II) coordination complexes [Ni2Py4L2]center dot 3C(6)H(6) (1) and [Cu2L2]center dot 2DMF (2) (H2L = 3,7-di(3-phenyl-3-oxopropanoyl)10-ethylphenothiazine) have been prepared and characterized by elemental analysis, IR and single crystal X-ray diffraction determination. Complex I crystallizes in the triclinic space group P (1) over bar. Complex 2 crystallizes in the monoclinic space group P2(1)/1 c. Both dinuclear complex molecules form a 24-membered ring structure. Each Ni(II) centre adopts a pseudo octahedral geometry, while each copper(II) center has a square planar coordinated sphere. The results show that I and 2 exhibit different 3D supramolecular structures incorporating I D columns. TGA shows that the two complexes exhibit high thermal stability. Complexes 1 and 2 exhibit moderately intense emissions at 549 and 597 nm, respectively. (c) 2009 Elsevier B.V. All rights reserved.
