A drastic deviation from the usually accepted reaction path was observed when oxidation of olefins was carried out in acetic acid with selenium dioxide in the presence of concentrated sulfuric acid. Oxidation of cyclohexene gave a mixture of cis- and trans-1,2-diacetoxycyclohexane. It was shown that in the oxidation of cyclohexene the organoselenium intermediate which produced 3-acetoxy-1-cyclohexene
A method for synthesizing linear allylic acetates from terminalalkenes over TiO2 supported Pd nanoparticles (NPs) has been developed, in which O2 serves as the sole oxidant. Good catalytic activity was performed when using allylbenzene as a substrate and the catalyst can be reused at least five times without activity losing. The catalytic system has a broad substrate scope including transformation

A modified ruthenium catalyst can be used to selectively hydrogenate an olefinic double bond in the presence of another olefinic double bond in the same or in a different molecule. Modifiers are selected from compounds containing trivalent nitrogen, trivalent phosphorus and divalent sulfur.
