PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a method for producing sulfonates, comprising reacting cyclic aminoalcohols with a sulfonyl halide to produce the corresponding sulfonates, by which the load of water drain is reduced.
SOLUTION: This method for producing the sulfonates from the corresponding three to eight-membered aminoalcohols is characterized by reacting the aminoalcohols with a sulfonyl halide (2) (R2is an alkyl or an aromatic group, provided that one or three hydrogen atoms in the alkyl or the aromatic group may be replaced by one to three substituents, and the hydrogen atoms of the substituents except the halogen atoms may be replaced by other substituents; X is chlorine atom, bromine atom or iodine atom) in the presence of trimethylamine in a reaction solvent.
