Possible Mannich aminomethylation of isoflavone chromone rings was studied using the alkaloid anabasine. Anabasine-isoflavone conjugates in which the benzopyrone core was connected to anabasine through a methylene linker were synthesized.
The reaction of aloperine with isoflavone glycidyl ethers was investigated. A series of alkaloid–isoflavonoid conjugates were synthesized via regioselective opening of the oxirane ring by aloperine.

A new isoflavonglycoside is isolated from the terrestrial part of Caragana alaica A. Pojark in addition to the known flavonoids 3-O-alpha-L-rhamnopyrano- and 3-O-beta-D-glucopyranosides of isorhamnetin, quercetin, and vistin. The structure 3'-hydroxy-6,4'-dimethoxy-7-O-beta-D-glucopyranosylisoflavone is established on the basis of chemical and spectral data.

Aminomethylation of the natural isoflavones afromosin and cladrastin and their 2-methyl derivatives was studied. Several new Mannich bases of 7-hydroxy-6-methoxyisoflavones were synthesized under Mannich reaction conditions using aminals of secondary amines.
