    Thermospray ionization and tandem mass spectrometry of dyes

    AbstractSixteen commercial dye samples and three liquid wastes from organic pigment and dye manufacture have been characterized without prior chromatography by thermospray ionization and low energy collision‐activated dissociation of protonated molecules using a triple quadrupole mass spectrometer. Many samples contained precursors of the dyes and other by‐products of the synthesis. Many of these components were identified by collision‐activated dissociation experiments and by inspection of the chemistry of dye manufacture. Detection limits of 20–200 ng in the positive ion mode were obtained for seven dyes of the anthraquinone, triarylmethane, xanthene, coumarin, azo and sulfonated azo dye classes. Under conditions of negative ionization, detection limits for an anthraquinone dye and a sulfonated azo dye were about one order of magnitude higher.

    The acrylic acid esters of formula I wherein A is a benzene or naphthalene ring, R1 is a saturated or unsaturated, straight or branched, alicyclic or aromatic C10-C30 hydrocarbon residue which can contain heteroatoms and can be substituted by an ionic substituent, R2 in 2- or 3-position is hydrogen, a straight or branched C1-C6 residue; an optionally substituted aromatic or optionally substituted heterocyclic residue, R3 and R4 stand for hydrogen, a straight or branched C1-C6 alkyl or C1-C6 alkoxy residue, a substituted or condensed heterocyclic residue, -OH, -NO2, -NH2, -N(C1-C6 alkyl)2, -N(hydroxyalkyl)2, -NHCO2CH3 or -NH(heterocycle), R2, R3 and R4 may be the same or different, X stands for -OH or NHR6, wherein R6 is hydrogen a saturated or unsaturated, straight or branched C1-C20 hydrocarbon or an optionally substituted aromatic or heterocyclic residue, and the acrylic double bond is of the E configuration, are useful for the delivery of organoleptic compounds, especially for flavours, fragrances and masking agents and antimicrobial compounds. They can also deliver fluorescent whitening agents.

    The present invention relates to highly compatible hydroxyphenyltriazine UV-absorbers and to their use in organic polymers, especially for protecting the contents of transparent plastic packages such as pharmaceuticals, cosmetics, personal care products, shampoos and the like, and especially foodstuffs such as beverages, fresh vegetables or meat, from the deleterious effects of ultraviolet radiation. Especially advantageous is the combined use of a UV absorber and an oxygen scavenger. It has been found that certain highly compatible tris-aryl-s-triazines are especially effective towards this end when incorporated in the containers or films in which such materials are stored.

The present invention relates to an aromatic polycarbonate resin composition for light guide plates, comprising an aromatic polycarbonate resin having a viscosity-average molecular weight of 13,000 to 15,000, and a ratio of a weight-average molecular weight to a number-average molecular weight (Mw/Mn) of 1.5 to 2.7 in terms of polystyrene as measured by gel permeation chromatography; and a stabilizer and a releasing agent blended in the aromatic polycarbonate resin, as well as a light guide plate produced from the resin composition.

    To easily confirm a coating state and covering state of a tooth and coating material on a tooth, the tooth coating material is made to be visually confirmable clearer than surrounding teeth by irradiating a fluorescent agent therein with an ultraviolet or visible ray by a dental light irradiator to excite the fluorescent agent, for example, the tooth coating material containing no water, but including: 0.5 to 20% by weight of a caseinphosphopeptide-amorphouscalciumphosphate complex (CPP-ACP) and/or a casein phosphopeptide-amorphous calcium fluoride phosphate complex (CPP-ACFP), 5 to 70% by weight of a covering film- forming polymer, 5 to 70% by weight of an organic solvent selected so as to contain alcohol, 0.01 to 10% by weight of a fluorine compound, 0.1 to 20% by weight of a thickener, and 0.1 to 3% by weight of the fluorescent agent.
