    The present invention relates to an amidine of the formula (I) and its use as a catalyst for crosslinking a curable composition. The amidine of the formula (I) contains at least one aliphatic amidine group. It is substantially odorless and nonvolatile at room temperature and accelerates the crosslinking of curable compositions very efficiently, without impairing the storage stability of the compositions. It is particularly suitable for compositions based on polymers containing silane groups, with which it is compatible, as a result of which such compositions do not have a tendency to separation or migration or evaporation of the catalyst.

    The use of an amidine of formula (I) and/or a conversion product thereof as a catalyst for the crosslinking of a composition based on silane group-containing polymers. The amidine of formula (I) and the conversion products thereof are essentially odorless at room temperature and non-volatile and accelerate the crosslinking of the composition very well without impairing the storage stability of the composition, and are very compatible in the composition. As a result, the compositions do not have a tendency to separate, migrate or evaporate the catalyst.

    A conversion product which has at least one aliphatic amidine or guanidine group and at least one polysiloxane radical, and the use of the conversion product as a catalyst for cross-linking hardenable compositions, in particular based on polymers containing silane groups. The conversion product is largely odor-free, non-volatile, and of low toxicity. The conversion product accelerates the cross-linking of such compositions surprisingly well, does not impair the stability of such compositions in storage, and is very highly compatible, which means that such compositions do not tend toward separation or migration or evaporation of the catalyst.
