A simple two-step procedure yielding peracetylated furanoses directly from free aldoses was implemented. Key steps of the method are (i) highly selective formation of per-O-(tert-butyldimethylsilyl)furanoses and (ii) their clean conversion into acetyl ones without isomerization.
