  本发明属于有机合成技术领域，公开了一种WS系列凉味剂关键中间体薄荷基甲酸的合成方法，其具体过程为：（1）使左旋薄荷醇在TEMPO的催化下，Fe(NO3)3·9H20以及NaCl的作用下，于氧气氛围下发生氧化反应生成左旋薄荷酮；（2）使步骤（1）所得的左旋薄荷酮与甲氧基甲基三苯基氯化磷在碱的作用下发生wittig反应生成烯醇醚，烯醇醚在溶剂中水解得到薄荷基甲醛；（3）使步骤（2）得到的薄荷基甲醛在NHPI的催化下，于氧气氛围下发生氧化反应生成薄荷基甲酸。本发明合成方法避免了合成格式试剂，操作和后处理简单，收率高，具有工业化价值。
