  The present invention refers to the discovery that Salidroside, or extracts containing Salidroside (like Rhodiola rosea extracts) are able to selectively abolish BE in a validated preclinical model of BE. The effect of a low dose of Salidroside proves to be increased by the combined administration of Hypericum perforatum extract. Therefore the present invention indicates the use of Salidroside (or extracts containing Salidroside) given alone or in combination with Hypericum perforatum for the pharmacotherapy of Bulimia nervosa or BED (Binge Eating Disorder).
