  本发明提供了一种2‑(4‑氯甲基苯基)丙酸甲酯的制备方法，具体包括如下步骤：(1)以2‑苯基丙酸为起始原料，将2‑苯基丙酸和甲醛混合后，于20～50℃下滴加浓硫酸，随后开始滴加氯化氢并升温至70～100℃进反应10~30小时，得到2‑（4‑ 氯甲基苯基)丙酸；(2)将2‑（4‑ 氯甲基苯基)丙酸与甲醇投入反应釜中，加入氯化亚砜，在45～65℃，保温反应12～24h后，反应液倒入适量水中，除去水相，并将有机相经减压精馏制得2‑（4‑ 氯甲基苯基)丙酸甲酯。本发明以2‑苯基丙酸为主要原料，经氯甲基化反应和酯化反应最终制成成品，其成品纯度高。
