The present invention relates to novel methods of preparation of substituted pyridines and the compounds produced therefrom. In particular, the present invention provides efficient methods for the construction of diversely substituted pyridines, with varying substitution patterns under simple and metal-free conditions with high atom- and pot-economy and excellent functional group tolerance, and which are useful for the synthesis of natural products.
A cat attractant applying method consists of inserting a cat attractant-containing liquid into a liquid storage chamber in a penholder, driving the cat attractant-containing liquid in the storage chamber out of a pen point, and applying the liquid to, for example, the surface of a cat attracting object. A cat attractant applicator consists of a hollow penholder provided therein with a liquid storage chamber in which a cat attractant is held, a pen nib retainer provided at the end portion of the hollow penholder, and a pen nib held on the pen nib retainer. The tip of a writing brush or a pen nib is brought into contact with the surface of a cat attracting object to apply the cat attractant-containing liquid held in the liquid storage chamber to the same surface.

A method is provided wherein based only on the amino acid sequence of an objective polypeptide or protein or the nucleotide sequence of an objective polynucleotide, its functional site or region such as catallytically active site or binding site can be surmised and generally be applied to a wide range of polypeptides or proteins or polynucleotides.
(1) Plurality of polypeptides or proteins whose amino acid sequence and a functional site are already known (hereinafter referred to as "reference polypeptides") are selected, (2) the relations between the functional sites and amino acid sequences, common to these polypeptides are extracted, and a law is induced from the relations, and (3) the law is applied to a polypeptide the amino acid sequence of which is known but the functional site or region of which is not known (test polypeptide).

After a solution obtained by extracting protein from cartilages of fishes which are enzyme treated is filtered, alcohol is added to a filtrate to deposit sodium chondroitin sulfate. The sodium chondroitin sulfate manufactured thus can be used for a raw material of medicines, medicine derivatives, medicine additives, cosmetics, and food additives. After a solution obtained by extracting protein which is obtained by enzyme treatment of cartilages of fishes is filtered, the filtrate is dried to manufacture a chondroitin-sulfuric-acid-containing substance. The chondroitin-sulfuric-acid-containing substance manufactured thus is used for, for instance, cosmetics, and food materials.
A tablet for removing tongue coating, wherein the tablet contains highly soluble saccharide and lowly soluble saccharide, the highly soluble saccharide and the lowly soluble saccharide are water-soluble, of water-soluble saccharides contained as the primary component in the tablet, the highly soluble saccharide has the highest solubility in water at 37°C, the highly soluble saccharide is a saccharide having the highest solubility in water at 37°C among the water-soluble saccharides contained in the tablet as the main components, the lowly soluble saccharide is a saccharide having the lowest solubility in water at 37°C among the water-soluble saccharides contained in the tablet as the main components, and the difference between the solubility of the highly soluble saccharide in water at 37°C and the solubility of the lowly soluble saccharide in water at 37°C is 10 % by weight or more.
