We report a full account on the development of a unique cationic polyenecyclization for the total synthesis of the tetracyclic meroterpenoid (−)‐cyclosmenospongine. A highly convergent three‐component coupling strategy enabled rapid access to individual cyclization precursors that were tested for their reactivity.
