Herein, an efficient and selective nickel-catalyzed dehydrogenation of five- and six-membered N-heterocycles is presented. The transformation occurs in the presence of alkyl, alkoxy, chloro, free hydroxyl and primary amine, internal and terminal olefin, trifluoromethyl, and ester functional groups.
