the construction of quaternarycarboncenters is reported. Glucoamylase from Aspergillus niger (AnGA) was used as a sustainable and eco-friendly catalyst. Various highly substituted trans-cyclohexanones with a quaternarycarboncenter were obtained with yields of up to 92%. As a novel case of enzyme promiscuity, this work provides a bio-catalytic alternative for construction of quaternarycarbon centers

The stereoselective synthesis of 4-oxo-2,6-diaryl-cyclohexane-1,1-dicarbonitriles has been developed through doubleMichaeladdition of malononitrile to 1,5-disubstitutedpentadien-3-ones catalysed by quinine. This simple cascade process affords cyclohexanones in moderate-to-good yields, excellent diastereoselectivity and up to 86 % ee. The isolation of the monoaddition product helps to shed light

The reaction of 1:1 zwitterionic species, generated in situ by the addition of dimethoxycarbene to dimethyl acetylenedicarboxylate, towards carbonyl compounds is described. The reactions presented offer a one-pot synthesis of dihydrofuran and spiro dihydrofuran derivatives in high yields.
