    Synthesis of fluorescent fluorene–isoindole-containing mono- and oligomers

    Novel fluorene-isoindole-containing light-emitting mono- and oligomers were prepared. The synthesis of the monomers N-(4-bromo-phenyl)-2-(7-bromo-9,9-diethylfluoren-2-yl)-isoindole-1-carboxamide, N-(7-bromo-9,9-dibutylfluoren-2-yl)-2-(7-bromo-9,9-dibutylfluoren-2-yl)-isoindole-1-carboxamide, and N-[7-bromo-9,9-bis(2-ethylhexyl)-fluoren-2-yl]-2-[7-bromo-9,9-bis(2-ethylhexyl)-fluoren-2-yl]-isoindole -1-carboxamide was carried out by a three-component reaction of ortho-phthalaldehyde with the corresponding amine and isocyanide partners. The Ni(0) mediated polymerization reactions of the obtained monomers gave the corresponding mixture of oligomers from two up to twelve repeat units. The optical properties were also studied and it was found that the phenylene-containing oligomer emitted green light in dichloromethane solution, while both difluorene-containing oligomers, under the same conditions, proved to be blue light-emitters with good quantum efficiency.   • Facile synthesis and optoelectronic properties of N,N-difluorenevinylaniline-based molecules

    A series of RGB molecules (FXs) with a tuneable light-emitting core and difluorenylamino-based peripheries were synthesized through the Heck coupling reaction in good yields. The intramolecular energy transfers and antenna effects were verified in this series of compounds. Strong photoluminescence (PL) from deep blue (∼415 nm) to saturated red (∼645 nm) was observed. The FXs exhibit good solubility and stability, high fluorescence quantum efficiency (up to 93% in THF and 73% in film), short lifetime (1.3–2.6 ns), and high charge injection and transport properties, revealed by both experimental measurements and theoretical calculations. The preliminary organic light-emitting diode devices exhibit only slightly blue-shifted electroluminescence in comparison with PL without stack characters. This full-colour emitting and solution-processable D–π-X–π-D star-burst molecules are highly attractive for organic optoelectronics.

    designed fluorene-based mono- and bimetallic Pd–PEPPSI complexes were synthesized and demonstrated to be effective for the one-pot sequential α-arylation/alkylation of oxindoles. This streamlined approach offers efficient access to functionalized 3,3-disubstituted oxindoles in excellent yields (up to 89%) under mild reaction conditions.
