Abstract Two new isoflavones, irisjaponins A and B, have been isolated along with seven known isoflavones from the aerial parts of Iris japonica . Their structures have been determined by spectroscopic analyses and comparison of 13 C NMR data with those of their congener, as 5,7-dihydroxy-6,2′,3′,4′,5′-pentamethoxyisoflavone and 5,7-dihydroxy-6,2′,3′,4′-tetramethoxyisoflavone.
