A process for producing a carboxyl group-containing (co)polymer, which comprises a reaction step of (co)polymerizing, in the presence of a polymerization catalyst component, at least a particular, functional group-containing olefin compound represented by predetermined general formula and a reaction termination step of terminating the (co)polymerization.
