We present an allylic polyfluoroarylation reaction with broad substrate scope and excellent functional group tolerance, using organozinc reagents under mild conditions. A catalytic amount of triphenylphosphine oxide efficiently promotes iodine-zinc exchange reaction between polyfluoroaryl iodide and dimethylzinc, and the resulting phosphine oxide-activated polyfluoroarylzinc undergoes substitution reaction with allylic halides to afford the corresponding polyfluoroarylated products. Catalyst system PdCl2(PCy3)2/Cs2CO3 in dioxane was found to be the efficientcatalyst system for Heck cross-coupling reactions of deactivated, neutral, and activated arylchlorides with a variety of alkenes under mild conditions to afford selectively E-arylated alkenes in good to excellent yields.
