The present invention relates to a novel rotenone derivative and a use of the same. Particularly, the present inventors identified the novel rotenoisin A and B which were the compounds with no toxicity and prepared by irradiation with gamma ray onto rotenone represented by the following formula 1 and further confirmed that the novel rotenone derivative significantly inhibited pancreatic lipase activity and preadipocyte differentiation. The novel rotenone derivative of the present invention can be effectively used as a composition for the prevention and treatment of obesity and as a composition for health functional food for the prevention and improvement of obesity: [Formula 1] (In formula 1, R1 and R2 are as defined in this description).

isoflavonoid rotenone (1) with γ-irradiation afforded two new degraded products, rotenoisins A (2) and (3). The structures of the two newrotenone derivatives were elucidated on the basis of spectroscopic methods. The new products 2 and 3 exhibited significantly enhanced inhibitory activities against pancreatic lipase and adipocyte differentiation in 3T3-L1 cells when compared to parent rotenone.
