D-焦谷氨酸(5-氧脯氨酸)属于D-焦谷氨酸系5-氧脯氨酸。它可以通过谷氨酸的α-NH₂基和γ-羟基之间的脱水形成分子内酰胺键而成,也可由谷氨酰胺分子内失去酰胺基而成。
生物活性D-焦谷氨酸(D-5-氧脯氨酸、D-Pyr-OH、5-氧代-D-脯氨酸、(R)-5-氧代吡咯烷-2-羧酸)是一种有效的内源性代谢产物,能够对抗由N-methyl-D-aspartate receptor拮抗剂AP-5诱导的被动回避行为中断。
