  The docosapeptide, H-Arg-Pro-Val-Lys-Val-Tyr-Pro-Asn-Gly-Val-Gln-Glu-Glu-Thr-Ser-Glu-Gly-Phe-Pro-Leu-Glu-Phe-OH, corresponding to positions 18 to 39 of ostrich ACTH (ostrich-type corticotropin-like intermediate lobe peptide, ost-CLIP), was synthesized, using 1M trifluoromethanesulfonic acid-thioanisole in TFA as a deprotecting reagent.

  ACTH has been successfully performed. The products synthesized were obtained with good yields and in fairly high purity. They were characterized by their chromatographic mobilities, angles of optical rotation, melting points, and13C NMR spectra.   The use of the CURTIUS azide method for the synthesis of peptides is known to produce urea derivatives as side-products due to partial rearrangement of the azide to an isocyanate. As model compounds for this type of reaction the two urea analogues of Val5-hypertensin II mentioned in the title have been synthesised.
