A short chemoenzymatic formal synthesis of oseltamivir from ethyl benzoate has been achieved. The key steps involve a toluene dioxygenase‐mediated dihydroxylation, hetero‐Diels–Alder cycloaddition, and generation of C4 acetamido functionality.
