Ausdem Gummiharz von Commiphoramukul Engl. (Burseraceae) (indisches “Guggul”‐Harz) wurden die monocyclischen Diterpene α‐Camphoren (2) und Cembren (4) isoliert. Für einen Diterpen‐Alkohol “Allylcembrol” wird die Struktur des 2‐Hydroxy‐4.8. 12‐trimethyl‐isopropyl‐cyclodecatriens‐(3.7.11) (6) vorgeschlagen. 6 wurde auch in den getrockneten oberirdischen Teilen von C. mukul nachgewiesen.

The crystalstructure of the title compound, C20H34O2, has been determined by single crystal X-ray diffraction methods at 295 K from diffractometer data using direct methods and refined by least squares to a residual of 0.06 for 2152 “observed” reflections. Crystals are orthorhombic, P212121, a = 32.770(8), b = 10.960(3), c = 10.850(3) Å, Z=8. The asymmetric unit comprises two independent molecules

Structures of two new diterpenoids, cembrene-A and mukulol are reported. Cembrene-A is one of the two most elementary tetraenes derivable from geranyl-geranyl pyrophosphate by C1 → C14 cyclization. Mukulol is also a cembrane derivative and is biogenetically closely related to cembrene-A.
