    Twenty-eight acyl hydrazides (1-28) are subjected for nitric oxide scavenging activities and their structureactivity relationship (SAR) is established. Compounds 1-28 showed a varying degree of activity having IC50 values in the range of 9.1 ± 6.5 - 231.1 μM. It was found that twenty-five (25) out of twenty-eight (28) compounds, showed an excellent nitric oxide scavenging activity. It was observed that the activity mainly depends on the substitution on acyl hyrazide moiety. 3-Propylpyrozole-5-carbohydrazide (27) was found to be the most active in the series with an IC50 value of 9.1 μM. Thus, compound 27 may serve as a lead compound for further development as potent antioxidant agent.

    Provided are a blue-light-emitting iridium complex, an iridium complex monomer, a phosphorescent polymer, and an organic electroluminescent device using same. The blue-light-emitting iridium complex contains a ligand having a low electron density structure, such as triazole or tetrazole. The iridium complex monomer containing a ligand having a polymerizable vinyl group produces a blue phosphorescent polymer through the polymerization with carbazole derivatives. The organic electroluminescent device comprises a first electrode, a second electrode, and a light-emitting layer interposed between the first electrode and the second electrode, wherein the light-emitting layer contains the above-described iridium complex or polymer containing the iridium complex.

    The amidation of aliphatic amine with acryloyl chloride in dry benzene as a solvent has been performed. Moreover, the polymer complexes have been prepared and structurally characterized by analyses, molar conductance measurements, magnetic susceptibility measurements, spectral techniques like IR. UV, NMR, ESR and thermal methods. Acryloyl hydrazine (AH) has been shown to behave as a bidentate ligand via its nitrogen (NH2 of hydrazine group) and C-O/C=O (acryloyl group) in polymer complexes, all of which exhibit supramolecular architectures assembled through weak interaction including hydrogen bonding and pi-pi stacking The magnetic and spectral data indicate a square planar geometry for Cu2+ complexes and an octahedral geometry for Co(II) and UO2(II). The ESR spectral data of the Cu(II) complexes showed that the metal-ligand bonds have considerable covalent character. The thermal stability was investigated using thermogravirnetric analysis. The results showed that the polymer complexes are more stable than the homopolymer. (C) 2011 Elsevier B.V. All rights reserved.
