  Bei der Umsetzung des β-Jonons (I) mit N-Bromsuccinimid und nachfolgender Abspaltung von Bromwasserstoff entstehen das Dehydro-β-jonon (II) und das 1-(2′,3′,6′-Trimethyl-phenyl)-butanon-(3) (VIII).
