Abstract The microbiological transformation of 16β,18-dihydroxyaphidicol-2-ene by Cephalosporium aphidicola affords 2α,3α-epoxy-16β,17,18-trihydroxyaphidicolane and 6β,16β,17,18-tetrahydroxyaphidicol-2-ene, whilst 16β,18- dihydroxy-2α,3α-epoxyaphidicolane gave the above epoxy-triol and 2α,3α-epoxy-6β,16β,18-trihydroxyaphidicolane.
