The electroreduction of a mixture of functionalized aromatic or heteroaromatic bromides or chlorides and allylic compounds such as acetates or carbonates in an electrochemical cell fitted with a sacrificial iron anode affords, in the presence of cobalt halide associated with pyridine as ligand in acetonitrile or DMF, the corresponding coupling product in good yields.
Palladium-Catalyzed Cross-Coupling Reaction of Secondary Benzylic Bromides with Grignard Reagents

A mild palladium-catalyzed Kumada−Corriu reaction of secondary benzylic bromides with aryl and alkenyl Grignardreagents has been developed. In the presence of the Xantphos ligand, the undesired β-elimination pathway is minimized, affording the corresponding cross-coupling products in acceptable to good yields. The reaction proceeds with inversion of the configuration.

The first Ru-catalyzed enantioselective hydrovinylation has been realized by using an asymmetriccounteranion-directedcatalysis strategy. Styrene derivatives react with ethylene in excellent yields and promising enantioselectivity using this approach.
