    rules: Reversal of the high Markovnikov selectivity of Wacker‐type oxidations was accomplished using a nitrite co‐catalyst. Unbiased aliphatic alkenes can be oxidized with high yield and aldehyde selectivity, and several functional groups are tolerated. 18O‐labeling experiments indicate that the aldehydic O atom is derived from the nitrite salt.

    l and 1-(1-ethoxyethoxy)ethyl phenyl sulfones undergo metalation with LDA in THF in the presence of HMPA. The resulting lithium salts were easily alkylated with various alkyl halides and hydrolyzed under mild conditions to give the corresponding carbonyl compounds. The new synthetic method for the preparation of aldehydes and ketones employing these carbanions has been developed.

    The apple leaf midge and raspberry cane midge pheromones have been found to be acetoxyheptadecenone and acetoxyundecanone, respectively, and uses for the related C9-19 oxoalkyl or oxoalkenyl molecules substituted with a lower alkanoyloxy group are provided, including monitoring population levels of the midge and control of midge populations by disrupting mating patterns.

    Disclosed herein is a composition containing hetero arylene or arylene showing a p-type semiconductor property in addition to thiophene showing a p-type semiconductor property and thiazole rings showing a n-type semiconductor property at a polymer main chain, an organic semiconductor polymer containing the composition, an organic active layer containing the organic semiconductor polymer, an organic thin film transistor (OTFT) containing the organic active layer, an electronic device containing the OTFT, and a method of preparing the same. The composition of example embodiments, which is used in an organic semiconductor polymer and contains thiazole rings, may exhibit increased solubility to an organic solvent, coplanarity, processibility and an improved thin film property.
