General Allylic C–H Alkylation with Tertiary Nucleophiles

A general method for intermolecular allylic C–H alkylation of terminal olefins with tertiary nucleophiles has been accomplished employing palladium(II)/bis(sulfoxide) catalysis. Allylic C–H alkylation furnishes products in good yields (avg. 64%) with excellent regio- and stereoselectivity (>20:1 linear:branched, >20:1 E:Z). For the first time, the olefin scope encompasses unactivated aliphatic olefins

Triacetylmethane (1) reacts with amidinohydrazines in acidic medium to afford 4-acetyl-3,5-dimethylpyrazoleamidinohydrazonederivatives 2,4. However, a similar reaction of 1 with thiosemicarbazide or semicarbazide led mainly to 3,5-dimethylpyrazole (6). The great propensity of 1 to hydrolysis accounts for this last transformation, as well as for the fact that with guanidine it led to 2-amino-4,6-dimethylpyrimidine

A Maillard reaction inhibitor containing, as an active ingredient, an amidinoheterocyclic derivative or its pharmaceutically acceptable salt, which is useful for the prevention and/or cure of various complications of diabetes and maturity-onset disorders. The amidinoheterocyclic derivatives are also useful as Maillard reaction inhibitors for cosmetics, external endermic medicines, foods, drinks, luxury grocery items and functional foods.

The heats of solution of a series of substituted pyrroles in benzene, carbontetrachloride, chloroform, DMF, and pyridine were measured by a calorimetric method at 298.15 K. The influence of substituents in the pyrrole molecule on the energy parameters of solvation by organic solvents is discussed.
