  Acetyl hypofluorite (AcOF) has been previously prepared using CFCl3 (CFC-11) as a solvent. It was found that acetonitrile can replace trichlorofluoromethane without sacrificing the efficiency and the regio- and stereo-selectivity of the addition of AcOF to olefins.
