取氧化钪10克，加入500毫升50%的醋酸水溶液中，置于1升圆底烧瓶内，并用蒸汽浴稍微加热，使氧化钪溶解于醋酸溶液。如果仍有少量未反应的氧化物残留在瓶底，则需进行过滤。将滤液移至75℃水浴中加热，以除去大部分溶剂。冷却后，收集晶体，得到一水合醋酸钪。可通过醋酸重结晶进一步提纯。最后，在150℃下加热至恒重，即可获得无水物。
