Cobalt-catalyzed regiodivergent synthesis of 5- and 6-substituted 1,3-dihydroisobenzofurans via cycloaddition of diynes and alkynes

A cobalt-catalyzed regioselective cycloaddition of diynes and alkynes has been developed for the construction of structurally diverse substituted 1,3-dihydroisobenzofurans. Various 5- and 6-substituted 1,3-dihydroisobenzofurans were produced with excellent yields and regioselectivities using Co(acac)2/PPh3/Zn/ZnI2 and Co2(CO)8 as the catalytic system, respectively.
