The new nitrosyl monoanion [Ru5C(CO)13(NO)]–(1) has been prepared by reaction of [Ru5C(CO)15] with [NO2]–, and it reacts with [AuPR3]+(R = Et, Ph) to give [Ru5C(CO)13(NO)(AuPR3)]; X-raystructure analysis of one of these compounds [Ru5C(CO)13(NO)(AuPEt3)](2) shows that it exists as isomers (2A) and (2B) which differ in the bonding mode of the Au ligand and in its site relative to the nitrosyl ligand

The reactivity of the "masked" terminal nickel sulfide complex, [K(18-crown-6)][(L(tBu))Ni(II)(S)] (L(tBu) = (2,6-(i)Pr2C6H3)NC((t)Bu)}2CH), with the biologically important small molecules CO and NO, was surveyed. [K(18-crown-6)][(L(tBu))Ni(II)(S)] reacts with carbonmonoxide (CO) via addition across the Ni-S bond to give a carbonyl sulfide complex, [K(18-crown-6)][(L(tBu))Ni(II)(S,C:η(2)-COS)] (1).

The cluster [Os3(CO)10(NCMe)2] reacted with [N(PPh3)2]NO2 in CH2Cl2 to give a novel red-orange complex [N(PPh3)2][Os3(CO)10(µ-η2-NO2)] in moderate yield, which underwent protonation with HBF4·Et2O in CH2Cl2 to give the neutral complex [Os3(µ-H)(CO)10(µ-η2-NO2)] in high yield; X-ray crystal-structure analyses have shown that both clusterscontain a µ-η2-bridging nitriteligand.

Two copper(I)–nitro complexes [Tpm3-tBuCu(NO2)] (1) and [(Ph3P)2N][Tp3-tBuCu(NO2)] (2), containing steric bulky neutral tris(3-tert-butylpyrazolyl)methane and anionic hydrotris(3-tert-butylpyrazolyl)borate ligands, have been synthesized and characterized.
