Reaction of lithium dialkylcuprates with the bridgehead 13-methanesulfonate of a gibberellin in the presence of BF3·Et2O gives the corresponding 13-alkyl derivative in >70% yield; the reaction is used in the synthesis of 13-methyIGA41.
