New rigid rods with 4 sigma, 6 sigma, 10 sigma, 12 sigma, and 16 sigma bond separations have been prepared from the pentacyclic diene 3 using ACE (alkene plus cyclobutene epoxide) and s-tetrazine coupling techniques and their shapes evaluated using AM1 calculations.
