An efficient synthesis of alpha(2,9) trisialic acid has been achieved via one-pot glycosylation and polymer-assisted deprotection. The synthesis involves chemo- and regioselective alpha-sialylation of ethylthiosialoside with the S-benzoxazolyl (S-Box) sialyl donor.
