Chirality was introduced into the ligands through a highly diastereoselective alkylation using Oppolzer's camphorsultam as chiral auxiliary. In general, the new catalysts are as reactive and selective as their cyclic counterparts for the asymmetric hydrogenation of various trisubstituted olefins.
