Abstract The terpenoid composition of the leaf resin of three Baccharis species has been studied. Baccharis heterophylla afforded the trivial compound oleanolic acid and the rare triterpene maniladiol. Baccharis sarothroides yielded oleanolic acid, the diterpene hautriwaic acid and its derivative 2β-hydroxyhautriwaic acid which is a novel natural product. Baccharis vaccinoides produces oleanolic acid
