    High‐dose cytoreduction and hematopoietic stem cell infusion form the basis for treatment of hematologic cancers, defects or failure of hematopoiesis, and some solid tumors. As an antitumor therapy, allogeneic hematopoietic cell transplantation (HCT) is superior to autologous HCT by induction of a graft‐us‐tumor effect. However, recipients of allografts suffer higher transplant‐related mortality owing to graft‐us‐host disease (GVHD). Nutrition support research must recognize that HCT is a heterogeneous modality whose short and long‐term outcomes are affected by transplant type, preparative regimens, diagnosis, disease stage, age, and nutritional status. The field of HCT will diversify further as lower dose cytoreduction and mixed chimerism grafts allow expansion of the technique to older patients and to other diseases.     The invention relates to secondary C 10 to C 18 surfactant alcohols of the general formula (I), wherein R represents methyl or ethyl and R′ represents a linear or branched alkyl group with 6-13 C atoms, excepting 5-ethyl-2-nonanol and 6-ethyl-3-decanol, in addition to fatty alcohol alkoxylates, alkyl phosphates, alkyl sulphates, alkyl ether phosphates and alkyl ether sulphates. The secondary C 10 to C 18 surfactant alcohols can be produced by a simple aldol condensation of linear or branched saturated or unsaturated C 7 -C 14 aldehydes, excepting 2-ethyl hexanal, with acetone or methyl ethyl ketone and the subsequent hydrogenation of the condensation product. In the preferred method, the aldol condensation is heterogenically catalysed under hydrogenation conditions and the saturated ketone that has been formed is subsequently hydrogenated. 1

    It is intended to provide a novel deodorant composition which is excellent in the deodorizing effect, is capable of affording a deodorant composition by a convenient method, and shows no decrease in the deodorizing performance even after a long period of time, once the deodorant being prepared. Specifically, there is provided a deodorant composition containing, as the active component, a colored compound obtainable by reacting a polyphenol in a solvent showing alkalinity in the coexistence of an oxygen molecule at a reaction pH value of 6.5 or more. As a substitute for a polyphenol, use can be made of a plant extract containing a polyphenol but containing substantially no amino acid. It is also possible to further employ an amino acid. Furthermore, use can be made of a plant extract and/or a plant body containing a polyphenol and an amino acid.
