  Abstract A new eudesmane-type sesquiterpene, 1-keto-α-cyperone (I), has been isolated from domestic tobaccos. The structure and stereochemistry of I have been elucidated from spectroscopic data and from the chemical degradation of I to (+)α-cyperone (IV).
