  The chemistry of some compounds related to (+)-6β-hydroxy-7β(H)-eudesm-4-en-3-one (IV) is described. The stereochemistry of the reduction products of both (+)-7β(H)-eudesm-4-en-3,6-dione (VI) and (+)-eudesm-4-en-3,6-dione (VIII) is established, and the equilibrium between these two ketones is discussed. Finally an attempt to prepare 6α-hydroxy-7β(H)-eudesm-4-en-3-one is mentioned.
