Pincerprotic N‐heterocyclic carbene (PNHC) complexes were synthesized by directmetalation, the formation of a metal carbon bond from an unfunctionalized CH bond in a single synthetic step. Significantly, directmetalation succeeded even for a first‐row metal, nickel.
