A new series of substituted cyclo-BINOLs is described, constructed using individually fashioned naphthol units which are tethered and oxidized to arrive at nonracemic materials.

polyunsaturated fatty acids (PUFAs) prompted us to initiate the synthesis of novel dihomo‐IsoF compounds. Such metabolites of adrenicacid, the main PUFA in white matter, were synthesized using a divergent approach based on an orthoester cyclization. LC‐MS/MS investigation on pig brains showed the potential of this novel biomarker for the first time, as a powerful new tool for brain lipid peroxidation assessment

A sequence which combines a nonracemic tether, a naphthyl diol, and an aminonaphthol has been developed leading to the new ligand cyclo-NOBIN, which can easily be mounted onto polystyrene. Opportunities for extending the route to substituted cyclo-NOBINs are also discussed. (C) 2004 Elsevier Ltd. All rights reserved.
